Raising $3 million in three years for the Women and Girls of Western Massachusetts
300 supporters giving $3,000 over 3 years - Are you in?
The moment our three founders returned from the life-changing 1995 United Nations Conference on Women in Beijing, the idea of a Women’s Fund was born. By 1997 it was created and positioned to define what was truly possible for all women and girls in western Massachusetts. They held the steadfast belief that in order to change the world, you must begin right here at home.
OUR MARCH
As we march to the March 2013 celebration of our 15th Anniversary the Fund is rooted in that belief and looks to Redefine What’s Possible for women and girls of western Massachusetts. We do it by modeling leadership at every turn:
- The Fund has awarded more than $1.8 million into the four counties of western Massachusetts. Our support has aided 94 area organizations and impacted the lives of over 50,000 girls and women.
- In 2008, when the financial crisis hit, the Fund took a bold step to increase our grantmaking significantly and award a half-million dollars over two years to provide needed support at a critical time.
- We were the first in our region to specifically create a leadership program designed to prepare women to sit at tables of influence. Our Leadership Institute for Political and Public Impact (LIPPI) is in its third year and has already propelled local women to pursue political and community leadership roles.
$1 million for Strategic Initiatives and Professional Development for Grantees and $2 million for Endowment. With the visionary leadership of our CEO, Dr. Carla Oleska, along with a dedicated staff and robust board of directors, we are confident that the Women’s Fund is poised to enter its next phase, one that will position the Fund for even greater impact. In order to do so, our financial position must be as solid as our mission. That is why we are raising $3 million: $2 million to build the endowment that will sustain our efforts over time and $1 million for the strategic initiatives and professional development that we offer now.
